October: Becoming More Christlike

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
The outlines in this unit will help the young women learn about and develop Christlike attributes. Jesus Christ has commanded all of us, “Be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect” (see 3 Nephi 12:48). Developing the attributes of Christ will help the young women fulfill their divine potential as daughters of God. They will need these attributes as they face the challenges of living in perilous times and as they prepare to raise righteous families in the future.

Outlines to choose from this month:

Mutual

Many of the lesson topics and learning activities in this unit would work well as Mutual activities. Work with class presidencies in selecting and planning appropriate activities.
Hey girls!
I wanted to make sure everyone is regularly checking our blog.
SO, everyone that comes to me within ONE WEEK of posting this will get their favorite candy bar!

So today is Wednesday, October 16th. You have until Wednesday, October 23rd to call me and tell me you saw this. :)

GOOD LUCK!

Love,
Sister Hynst

September: Commandments
“Consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God” (Mosiah 2:41).
Commandments are the laws and requirements that a loving Heavenly Father gives His children to bless them, protect them, and guide them back to Him. When we keep the commandments, we show our love for Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. As we obey the commandments and continually repent, we become more like the Savior and we are blessed with happiness, peace, testimony, and the companionship of the Holy Ghost. Obedience to the commandments helps us fulfill our divine role as daughters of God.

Mutual

Many of the lesson topics and learning activities in this unit would work well as Mutual activities. Work with class presidencies in selecting and planning appropriate activities.

Sooner rather than later...Camp forms

Please get the camp forms in as soon as possible.  We would LOVE to get most of them turned in on THIS SUNDAY.  At the very latest we MUST have these turned in by May 5th to the Stake Camp Director..... so please try to bring them this Sunday.  Thank you!

Hopewell Young Women and Mothers:

The Young Women have been asked to sing on Mother’s Day.   The song we have selected will also have a part for Mothers to sing.  We are asking all Mothers of our Young Women to please sing with us.

The song comes from the Children’s Songbook on pg. 178, “Teacher, Do You Love Me?”  (We will be using the alternate word “Mother” in place of “Teacher”.

PLEASE, come join us for a short practice after church on Sunday April 28th and May 5th in the chapel.  We will also have a brief rehearsal the last 15-20 minutes of Sunday School time on May 12th (Mother’s Day) to be prepared to sing in Sacrament Meeting that day.  It is our sincere hope that you will join us and enjoy the memories of doing this with your daughter!

Sincerely,
Hopewell Young Women’s Presidency

This week and more updates!

*We had a wonderful lesson by Sister Prowse on Sunday.  She encouraged each of us to watch the video clip "A Search for Truth"  here is a link to the clip: https://www.lds.org/youth/learn/yw/apostasy-restoration/restoration?lang=eng#video=a-search-for-truth

*Girls Camp registration forms were sent home on Sunday.  Please let us know asap if you still need a form.

*This Wednesday night we will be having a joint activity with the Wakefiled Branch YW.  It will be a "pintresting evening" a.k.a. bring something to share that you have found and like.  (For example, a hairstyle tutorial you found online and that you can demonstrate or show us the tutorial you found.  A recipe you have found and would like to share a bite to eat with the group...etc. etc.)

*More updates about the Laurel/Priest Prom:

Due to the issues that they are having with the website to register/RSVP and the lateness of the date, instead of registering on the website...could we please have the Laurels communicate with the YW president if they are planning to attend the Prom. We need to get a head count of all youth who are planning to attend and their dates if they are coming with one. We need this information by Monday, April 22 so that Richmond and Chesterfield Stakes can have a number to plan the food.

Just a reminder that the youth must be Priest and Laurel age (16-18) and come to the prom in modest attire. For the Young Women their dresses need to be at a minimum down to the knee or longer, no sleeveless, spaghetti strap or backless dresses. For the post prom the youth need to bring clothes to change into after the dance. These clothes should be modest as well. No shorts or tank tops.

Updated Information and Welcome!

We would like to welcome Moriah to our young women's group.... we are happy to have her here! We are also excited to have Sister Hollie Nase joining us as a new Young Women advisor!  Welcome!  Sister Vance, we will miss you and are very thankful for all your service to our young women.  We wish you the best in your new calling.

There is plenty of updated information today! Please see the new March calendar (earlier post) and more updated information on the sidebar listed with March Activities and upcoming events.  Please note that the joint activity will be on the 4th Wednesday this month and if at all possible to bring a laptop to use.  The girls will also need a login ID/password for lds.org....more details to come!

Remember to work on your relationship with Heavenly Father this week!  Spend some time reading your scriptures and praying daily.  Be prepared to share your feelings on Sunday about how that helped you come to know him better and feel closer to him.

The General YW Broadcast will be held as a stake event his year on Saturday, March 30th from 8-9:30 p.m. in thstake center's chapel.  All young women ages 12-18, their mothers, and YW leaders are invited and encouraged to attend.  We will host a YW clothing swap prior to the broadcast in the cultural hall from 7-7:50 p.m.  If you have modest clothing you can no longer use, bring it to the Clothing Swap beginning at 6:30 that evening.  Clothing should already be sorted by size (S-M-L-XL) and occasion (casual or dressy) to make it easier for everyone to "shop"

The Midlothian Stake has announced a new date and location for the tri-stake Priest/Laurel Prom.  The prom will now be held on Friday, April 19th @ the Richmond Metro Zoo from 7-10 p.m.  There will be "after-prom" activities following the dance from 10-12 midnight.

Have a super week!
